Fri3d Camp is a biannual family-friendly summer camp for hackers, makers and DIYers. It combines technology, creativity and knowledge sharing with the informal atmosphere of an outdoor summer camp. The programme is created by and for the participants, who organise workshops, talks and activities based on their own interests and expertise.
Dekimo supports Fri3d Camp by helping produce the electronic badge that every participant receives. At our electronics factory in Erpe-Mere, the components are assembled onto the printed circuit boards using our high-speed Fuji placement machines. The organisers also made use of our prototyping facilities in Leuven during the development phase.
The gadget is developed especially for the camp and gives participants a practical way to experiment with electronics and programming.
Our colleague Wim Van Gool from Dekimo Leuven is involved in the organisation of the camp and contributes to the development of the gadget and other electronics used during the event. Dekimo is happy to support initiatives by our colleagues, especially when they make electronics accessible to both young and old.
