| How do we start up a project? |
A project always starts with a clear analysis, based on sufficient contacts and discussions with our customer. The analysis forms the basis of the further development of the project.
|
| What is the exact cost of the project? |
Software and Hardware Projects at fixed price
Software and hardware engineering is preferably executed at a fixed, pre-arranged price. This price is based on a precise estimation, made up in consultation with the client, of the number of man-days necessary to realise the project. The price of the project is obtained by multiplying this estimation with the man-day price.

PCB design at fixed price
Layers/Dekimo can execute a PCB design at a fixed, pre-arranged price. This price is based on a precise estimation, made up in consultation with the client, of the number of hours necessary to realize the project. The price of the project is obtained by multiplying this estimation with the hourly rate. The parameters that served as input, are mentioned in the quotation.
If specifications change during the course of the design, or modifications are asked on parts that were already checked and approved by the customer, all modifications are logged and an estimation of extra time needed is made by the PCB design engineer. This estimation of extra time, if substantial, is communicated immediately to the customer, who needs to give his approval. Also, after the PCB design is finished, the parameters that served as input for the quotation are compared to the final parameters. In case of large deviations of these final parameters, the total extra time needed is calculated through extrapolation.
Software and Hardware Projects at agreed hourly rate
Layers/Dekimo can also develop your project at an agreed hourly rate. This can be on-site or within our own premises. Hours are logged in weekly forms, and are also communicated to the customer, on a frequency agreed with the customer.

All important deviations with respect to the estimated time, are immediately communicated and motivated to the customer. |
| What if the specifications change during the course of a fixed price project? |
In order to make an accurate estimation of an order, we split the project into clear steps, or subprojects : functional analysis, technical analysis, module 1, module 2, project management, testing, manual writing, etc. The list of subtasks is made up as exhaustive as possible. The size of each subtask is also limited what simplifies a good control, and what prevents discussions concerning which topics were included in the price agreed on.

| Who can be appealed to in case of problems? |
Every project has a project leader for all communications with the client. This improves the making of clear agreements, and in case of problems, there is always a contact person to appeal to.
|
| What about the daily organisation of a project? |
Apart from regular meetings between the project manager and the client, we also have meetings at the office for each project on Monday morning. Besides the budgetary time control, possible difficulties and/or blocking situations are discussed in an open manner.
|
|
How do we guarantee the quality of our projects? |
By sufficiently taking care of the project during its entire development … - a project is always well structured and uniformly approached
- for large projects a good “plan of approach” is made up
- in the phase of technical analysis we already make up an estimation of the risks
- the analyses are internally discussed with other project managers
- the complete staff is highly-skilled and are fanatic developers
- the knowledge of our personnel is kept up to date thanks to regular trainings and to the diversity of our projects
- internal code reading is done (for hardware projects the schemes are checked for corrections)
- for larger projects a test plan is made up
|
| What are our guarantees? |
We do not pretend that everything is always passing off without any difficulties, nor that we do everything better. But, what we do claim is that all the projects of our long reference list were always brought to a successful end. Dekimo disposes moreover of the necessary structure and sufficient financial reserves to meet unexpected problems.
We are also ISO9001 certified for software development and hardware design. |
